Surely the trick would be to involve the act of reading in the process of nomination? All the blogger would have to do would be to incorporate the appropriate ‘widgit’, registering it as ‘Orwell Prize Ready’, and all the Trust would have to do is set a predefined limit of some kind which triggered automatic nomination. 

We believe that self-nomination is the fairest and most consistent way of entering – it’s the same for everybody. It’s not perfect – we sometimes miss out on bloggers who aren’t aware of the Prize, or don’t feel like putting themselves forward – but it’s a similar process to the other Orwell Prizes and we think it’s better than the alternatives.

In future your blog will automatically nominate itself by the deadline.
The second release of the App will assess all previous winners, and suggest statistically successful topics on receiving every day’s newsfeed. And also
highlight stylistic outrages or eccentricities in your text, which might not appeal to the proven taste of the judges.
